Another Friday introduction, this one on behalf of the quieter half of Kinship Market. Meet Tom, he’s been passionate about Vida Real School and the people of Guatemala for several years now, so much so that he’s made about a dozen trips to San Pedro and San Pablo over these years. He loves kids and dogs and really good coffee. He’s also a LaCroix addict (can we get a me too, amen?!). Tom has the smarts about business and numbers and analytics, he works really hard every week learning more about business in the online world, he also tenaciously studies his Spanish with multiple classes each week, and he’d do anything to support a friend. Today is All Saints’ Day (Día de Todos Los Santos) in Guatemala, And Dia de los muertos, which is celebrated in much of Latin America. This day is filled with the flying of giant kites that are thought to carry messages to past ancestors. Many families also visit the cemetery to remember and honor their loved ones. Spending the end of October/ beginning of November in Guatemala is high on my list, (plus rainy season is over so the weather is perfect)! Having experienced recent loss, plus many other losses this time of year - I love how this culture embraces this holiday and remembers their loved ones in such meaningful ways. .
